Join us for the opening reception of a new exhibit in the McCarl Gallery! In “Practically perfect: a comedy of errors in handwoven coverlets,” we explore the humanity behind the craftsmanship of 19th century textiles. From mismatched seams to skipped threads to ‘typos’ in the signatures, sometimes it’s the all-too-human errors that truly bring an artifact’s story to life. This exhibit lovingly celebrates the imperfections that reveal the maker’s hand. The public is invited to a free opening reception on March 27th from 4:00-6:00 pm. Light refreshments and cake will be served.
